MANILA, Philippines – Christmas will arrive early for approximately 8,700 Manila city government employees, who will receive their year-end bonus on November 18.
The announcement was made by Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan at the Kartilya ng Katipunan grounds in Arroceros, Manila, near City Hall, where she was joined by Vice Mayor Yul Servo and other local government officials.
“Payout is on Friday (November 18),” the mayor announced, prompting applause from City Hall employees in attendance.
The year-end bonus is equivalent to one month’s basic salary plus a PHP5,000 cash gift.
Meanwhile, Lacuna-Pangan announced that all residents will receive Christmas gift boxes.
“We will distribute the Christmas boxes for all Manila residents for your holiday feasts on December 1,” she added.
The massive Christmas tree is adorned with Christmas balls, LED lights, and a large star.
The mayor urged residents to spend the holiday season with their families and to thank God for all of their blessings.
Other Christmas trees were lit simultaneously at the Bulwagang Rodriguez and Rizal Parks.
Christmas lanterns made from recycled materials, as well as other decorations, were lit along Taft Avenue, Roxas Boulevard, Quezon Boulevard, P. Burgos Drive, and Lawton.
The National Museum of Fine Arts Building, Manila Central Post Office, and Tutuban Center facades were also illuminated.
